5. Arrow Bamboo

Maintaining a Bamboo Hedge

Planting

The most important feature of building a bamboo hedge is spacing. It requires at least 3-4 feet of space between the plants. You can plant bamboo during any time of the year, though, spring and fall are the best seasons.

Watering

Bamboo needs deep and regular watering. Make sure that you are not letting the soil go completely dry and keeping it moist always.

Pruning and Care

Maintain the size and shape of your bamboo hedge by regular trimming. Prune the clumping bamboo in fall or spring. Cut off all the droopy and wilted canes; you can find them in the center of the clump. Pruning from this area will assist in the growth of new foliage.
